After 15 years’ practicing family law in both Vancouver and Fraser Valley law firms, Kendelle decided to start her own Surrey/White Rock-based firm so that she could provide a more personalized and supportive service to those navigating divorce, adoptions, spousal and child support, and custody and guardianship.
As a family lawyer and neutral family mediator, Kendelle focuses her practice in the following core service areas:
- Settlement Agreements
- Divorce
- Family Property and Debt Arrangements
- Adoptions
- Spousal Support
- Child Support
- Custody & Guardianship
- Parenting time and Associated Issues
She also has considerable experience in both division of family property (family assets) and business property (both privately held and corporations). In particular, Kendelle has experience assisting high net worth clients and business owners deal with their complex asset structures upon marriage breakdown.
Family Law
Legal issues are rarely black and white, and no two family law cases are alike. Kendelle offers her clients an honest and informed opinion with respect to their legal standing on various issues including child support and spousal support. Together, she and her clients carefully strategize the most optimal path forward for the best possible outcomes, with the least amount of stress and unnecessary cost. Kendelle firmly believes that there is no “one size fits all” approach to resolving conflict or assisting a family with separation and divorce. For that reason, she has adopted a diverse set of conflict resolution methods including trial work and litigation, negotiation, and family mediation.
Negotiation and Family Mediation
In 2016, Kendelle traveled to Toronto to deepen her understanding and skill in family law negotiation and obtained a Certificate in Negotiation from Osgoode Hall Law School (York University). This course allowed Kendelle to delve into the theory and practical nuances of family law negotiation, providing her clients with a tactical advantage at the negotiation table.
Further, she has completed over 200 hours of family mediation training (well beyond the standard 80 hours required by the Law Society of BC), so that she can offer superior services whether she is acting as a neutral third-party mediator or as an advocate for her clients at a mediation.
These skills, along with her commitment and compassion, lead her clients to a speedier, less costly resolution to their family law issues and/or conflict during separation and divorce.
A note from Kendelle
As an advocate, I tirelessly fight for my clients, and perhaps most importantly, I solve family law problems for my clients. As a neutral family mediator, I skillfully facilitate communication and help clients to solve their own family law disputes. Regardless of which ‘hat’ I am wearing, in order to deliver on those promises, I listen deeply to all of my clients to understand their needs, issues, and concerns to their family law problems. From there, the real work can begin. I take the time to get to know my clients; no one is simply a file number at my firm. At Pier Law & Mediation, we have the knowledge, skill and commitment to help solve your family law issues and conflict. Kendelle Pollitt, LLB, Q.Med.
